Water Shader Tutorial for Vizrt Artist
You may have seen the Water Shader before and what it can do. But questions kept coming in on how to actually apply this shader plugin in a real world situation. This week David McManus plays the Bob Ross (google him if you don't know) of Vizrt and shows you how to apply the water shader with a picture to create an animating scene.
In case you have never used the water shader it is a plugin that allows you to create realistic looking water. You can use the variables within the plugin to adjust things such as water depth, wave depth and color among many other variables. Though applied a lot in weather graphics, other uses have come up in cityscape graphics, breaking news situations and sporting event graphics.
This tutorial shows you how to use the water shader with another image to create an animating waterfront scene. The image chosen for this tutorial allowed us to show two variables for the water shader. One, that it is a slow moving river, which means the water speed is slower and there are no waves. Also, the picture represents night time which means the water shader colors will have to get adjusted to show that.
